Will there be a finisher's medal?
For half marathon and half marathon relay runners, not only will there be a finisher's medal, but a SWEET (and GIGANTIC!)medal. This isn't something you'd pull out of a Cracker Jacks box. Here's one example of our breastplate-like medal from 2019:
So, how do I earn one of these awesome medals?
Most importantly......run 13.1 miles. (Or run on a relay team.)
Secondly, eat at least three (3) aid station treats during the course of the race. A race volunteer will verify that you ate your snack, and will mark your bib.
5k Runners also receive a medal.
But wait. There's more!
There will be a special award for the three finishers who eat the most treats during the race. Not only will you win a special award, but you will be crowned the Sugar Slayer!
Where is packet pickup?
Friday The day before the event from 5pm to 7pm - Classic Sports in Hurricane. 984 State St, Hurricane, UT 84737.
Where is the start/finish?
Three Falls Park in Hurricane, Utah. The park address is 663 W. 900 S. The easiest way to get to the park is driving on State Street, turn south on 700 W. (at the Chevron gas station) and keep driving nine blocks to 900 S.
The race starts at 8:00am!
Do I have to eat treats at the Sugar Shack?
Half marathon runners must eat three treats during the race. A volunteer will mark each treat you eat. Relay runners only need to eat one snack. We'll definitely make allowances for medical issues such as gluten intolerance.
Why loops?
Our goal for the Baker's Dozen is to have a fun, social running party. A loop course assures that the race will have all the best things in life: Friends - Running - and Sugar! Here are a few more reasons:
1) Convenient for family, friends, and spectators to cheer and watch your race.
2) Aid and bathrooms are never far away.
3) Runners get to interact with each other. They can watch the race unfold in front of them. They can cheer each other on.
4) It's unique and fun. Loop races are all over the country and reviews are overwhelmingly positive. It's cool to be part of something new and different.
What is the weather like in December?
The average high on December 12th is 55 degrees. We will plan to hold the race rain or shine.
Is there a cutoff?
The race has a 4 hour cutoff.
How often are the aid stations?
Our loop course takes runners past the Sugar Shack every 3.25 miles. You will have frequent access to bathrooms, treats, and water. (There will also be a portable bathroom, water, and free hugs half way through the course.
REFUND POLICY
While we are unable to offer refunds, we can defer your event to a future event, but only if we hear from you 14 days prior to an event. There is a small fee to defer to a future race.
